EDvance makes higher education more accessible for ECE professionals by providing cohorted pathways with simplified admissions requirements. We help students achieve their educational goals by meeting them where they’re at today and guaranteeing an efficient path to graduation, whether that’s lower division or upper division.

60 Lower Division Units* are required to become transfer eligible

*Taken at a regionally accredited institution

12 Units of Child Development

including Child Development + Children Families and their communities

33 Units of Electives

e.g.: CAP 8 Courses, ESL

15 Units of General Education

*Students must have passed the required general education courses with a grade of "C" or better, and have 60 or more units

Need additional General Education Coursework? 

As an added benefit for educators, we offer a BA Preparation Pathway that provides General Education (GE) coursework to those who need it. This program is designed to help educators fulfill their GE requirements at no cost, making it easier for them to enroll at EDvance College and pursue their academic and professional goals.

Community College GE Equivalencies

To be eligible for lower division admission students must meet the following requirements:

Lower Division Requirements*

Prospective student must have a high school diploma/GED and a CA Child Development Associate Teacher Permit, a Child Development Associate CDA Credential and/or 12 units dedicated to Early Childhood Education

*Transferable units must have been taken at a regionally accredited institution. 

To be eligible for upper division admission students must meet the following requirements:

A minimum of 12 units of Child Development courses are required towards transfer eligibility. These can include any Child Development courses, but must include (1) Child Development and (2) Children, Families and their Communities as required courses.

Up to 33 units of elective courses can be counted towards transfer eligibility, including CAP 8 courses, ESL courses, etc.
